Dan Nelson began his career with a bachelors of chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. From there, he decided to pursue a Ph.D. in chemical physics at the University of Colorado Boulder, successfully defending his dissertation in JILA in 2017. Since then, he has worked in sales in the scientific and vacuum industries for 6 years as an account manager, profitably developing business accounts across the country. 

 

With a combined total of 13 years of experience in the scientific community, his list of specialties include: physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, ion beam etching, vacuum system design and diagnostics, optical coatings (IR, Visible, UV, and VUV), cw and ultrafast laser system design and control, time-of-flight and mass-selected mass spectrometry, photoelectron spectroscopy, and molecular spectroscopy.

 

Daniel lives in Longmont Colorado with his pet Maine Coon named Rayleigh and his partner.  He is a member of several local community choirs, including the Rocky Mountain Chorale and Generations.
